Although almost everybody has felt blue sometimes, a depressive mood that interferes with the ability to function and appreciate the good things life has to offer is known as Depression. Depression is a mental illness characterized by a feeling of deep sorrow and a lack of interest in oursuing fun activities. It can cause a variety of symptoms, both physical and emotional. Depression is not the same as being melancholic blue for a while: it can last for weeks, months or even years. People with depression rarely recover without treatment; they are affected in virtually every aspect of their lives, such as family, work, social and academic endeavors.

What is Depression?

Depression is a pathological state that implies an alteration of the brain's biochemistry, especially neurotransmitters. Serotonin and norepinephrin levels are affected. These neurotransmitters have their main area of action in a region of the brain known as the limbic system.
